Students from Bedlingtonshire Community High School have overcome local challenges and started their very own walking club. The team of twelve Year 9 students had to secure funding to purchase walking kit and arrange their own transport, and have succeeded in running their first day walk.

A candidate for local elections in Bedlington has spent the morning with students from Bedlingtonshire Community High School.
The BCHS Year 9 Mountaineering Club meets every Thursday after school.
A group of year 10 students from Bedlingtonshire community high School are celebrating this week after winning their local basketball league.

BCHS and WSMS will be closed on Friday 8th January due to snow and poor road conditions.
School should be open on Monday for all year groups, unless otherwise stated. Year 12 and 13 exams should still take place and students should use this additional time to revise.

A new enterprise learning centre has opened in Bedlington. The Bedlington Enterprise Centre, located at Bedlington High School, is one of two new centres in the town.

Years 10, 11 and 13 will start back on Thursday 10th September at 0900. Years 7,8,9 and 12 will also be in school on Thursday. School will finish at 3:30pm.

Hundreds of students at Bedlington High School were celebrating today after getting their GCSE exam results. The school reached its tough target with 54% of students gaining 5 GCSE grades A*-C and 100% of students walking away with at least one GCSE.

A group of enterprising students from Bedlington High and Ashington High Schools have completed a gruelling ten day expedition in the Swiss Alps.
The department for children, schools and families have confirmed that three Bedlington Middle Schools can join Bedlington High School in becoming specialist maths and computing colleges.

'Treat every new script as a classic and every classic as a brand new script', is one example of the insightful and interesting tips that Richard Twyman of the RSC offered the Year 12 and 13 drama students prior to our performance of 'Blackout' on Wednesday 25th March.
Students from 7FM organised a logo design competition. The winning design was printed onto water bottles to be sold to raise money for UNICEF.
Head coach of the Newcastle Eagles Basketball team, Fabulous Flournoy dropped into BCHS to demonstrate his skills and chat to students this week.

Staff and students are celebrating this week after BCHS passed its OFSTED inspection.
School Principal, Kieran McGrane told us about it. "The inspection is a chance for the students and staff to show how great BCHS really is. We had a team of four inspectors working with us and they were very pleased with what they've seen." The inspection report is on its way to parents and members of school community and will be available from the school website.
A group of sixth form students have organised an art gallery and sale at a local church hall in Bedlington this week. The students used pieces of work that they have produced over the year a long with other examples of work.
Year 9 students have recently spent a day learning about life saving skills as part of a short first aid course studied at Bedlington High School. The students learned about the recovery position, how to go through a basic check of vital signs and how to check a casualty for other injuries.
Year 9 student, Emma Barnfather really enjoyed the day. "I'd never done anything like this before." She said. "I feel that I've learned some important life skills, things that go beyond just lessons or classroom."
The session was lead by air cadets from 346 (Tynemouth) Squadron, who all hold first aid qualifications.
Year 8 students from across the Bedlington partnership descended on BCHS recently as the high school welcomed their new year 9 intake. West Sleekburn Middle school also welcomed a new cohort of year 5 students, recently arrived from their first schools.
This was the first time that new first school and middle school students had visited the schools, which are on the same site.
Over 300 students from years 7,8 and 9 have taken part in an enterprise challenge day. The day, organised by Benet Enterprises, gave students an opportunity to visit local companies and businesses in the Wansbeck area.
The students started their day with a tour of local businesses, such as ray tek, a local company that started with only three staff and is now a leading light in the security camera industry. Students had the chance to ask local entrepreneurs what it takes to set up and run their own business. Over 20 local businesses worked with students including Ray Tek, Zodiac, Tesco and the Half Moon.
