Students involved in the Schools Youth Transition Project have taken part in a celebration event to mark their achievements during the summer holidays. They took part in a number of activities including a two day course in Fire and Rescue with Northumberland Fire and Rescue service, a four day course of outdoor activities including Kayaking, Bell Boating, open canoeing and a climbing wall with The Marine Activities Centre based in Sunderland, two days at the Blyth Spartans Football Club Playing for Success programme doing robot challenges, Wii challenges as well as some football related activities.
The celebration event took place to allow the families and friends of the students to celebrate their achievements. The students were awarded their certificates and a DVD of the summer activities by the chair of Governors from Meadowdale Middle School, Mr Derik Alcraft. The event was also attended by staff and governors from the schools and activity providers to recognize the excellent work and achievements made. There were also displays by some of the activity providers and the transition project and the radio control car club from BCHS let the students have a go with the cars.
All the students did exceptionally well over the summer and overcame a lot of their fears and for most of them this took them out of their comfort zone.
The event was attended by around 50 people.
