Years 5 and 6 pupils at Bedlingtonshire Junior High School have been taking part in 'BikeAbility' cycle training; this course offers children new cycling skills to boost confidence and help them to become a safer road user. The training takes place initially on the school site then the children are taken out on the roads by an experienced team of instructors; all children who take part can achieve a level 1 or level 2 certificate and badge. The school has now offered the course four times and each time it has been a huge success. Lynne Mellor, Primary Unit Coordinator, said, "We are always delighted to offer this course to our children; we encourage them to come to school on their bicycles and this course teaches them how to do it safely."
