Community magazine has takes-off

Sixth form students from Bedlingtonshire Community High School launched their first community magazine this week.

Banter, a magazine for students in the Bedlington community, goes on sale this week at the high school and in local shops.
The team of sixth form and year 10 students have been working on the project for the past few months after their secured funding from RioTinto Alcan and the Wansebeck Enterprise Education Network.

Andy Gaskell from WEEN was present at the launch, he told us, "The students have produced an excellent magazine which the community will love. They've shown that they have drive and an entrepreneurial spirit."
A spokesperson for RioTinto Alcan also congratulated the team on their 'hard work, dedication and enterprising attitude'.
The editorial team were delighted with the launch and response, Chelsea Mason, one of team told us what the magazine meant to her. "Getting the sponsorship from RioTinto Alcan has been a real boost and has helped turn our ideas into reality. I didn't think that as a sixth form student I'd be editing my own magazine which is being read across our local community."
The magazine also has its own website, http://banter.web.officelive.com
