Bedlington Enterprise Centre Opens

A new enterprise learning centre has opened in Bedlington. The Bedlington Enterprise Centre, located at Bedlington High School, is one of two new centres in the town.

The centre was built using funding from the LEGI group and supported by Wansbeck Enterprise Education Network. Speak on behalf of the WEEN, Sarah Legge, WEEN co-ordinator told us how important the new centres were. "Having these facilities means that schools and local community can access them for enterprise training, which we believe will have a big impact on raising aspirations, employability and social mobility."

The Principal of Bedlington High, Kieran McGrane was delighted with the new centre. "We have over 1000 students on site and with two feeder middle schools, a sizeable proportion of students in the local area will have the opportunity to develop the skills much needed in today's workplace."

The news of the new centre has spread far and wide and received a visit to a group of primary school headteachers from the Rotherham area who were 'very impressed' with the state of the art facilities.

In addition to the centre at Bedlington High, a second centre was also opened at Guidepost Middle School. Speaking about the new centre, Jayne Parnaby, headteacher at Guidepost said "This new centre, the Children's Enterprise Centre, will give young people around our school a chance to experience the very best in Enterprise Education."

If any local groups are interested in accessing these centres, they can contact Bedlington High School or Guidepost Middle School.
