Adam Hall, a Year 9 student at Bedlingtonshire Community High School has won the Under 14 'Supremo' title at the Regional 'Mega-final' of the UK LAND CHESS CHALLENGE. The competition is the biggest chess tournament in the world, with over 70,000 children taking part across Britain.
Adam beat students from all over the North East including those in his own and older age groups. Adam has now qualified for the national 'Giga-final' in Manchester in July. In the tournament Adam lost only one game out of six, and that to the eventual winner of the under 16 section.
Principal of the Federation, Kieran McGrane, said, 'We are all thrilled with Adam's outstanding performance in the tournament, and everyone at the school will be supporting him when he competes again in July'.
