A group of sixth form students from Bedlington High School are celebrating after showcasing their work at a regional enterprise event.
Two teams of sixth formers were invited to show off their mini-businesses at a regional event in Houghton-Le-Spring this week. The 'Cloud 9' event, organised by One North-East and RTC North is a celebration of young entrepreneurs and had over 1000 sixth form students from across the North East.
Key note speakers included Tre Azam, finalist in Sir Alan Sugar's 'The Apprentice', Anthony..., winner of Big Brother and Mick Jackson, former front man from the pop group 'Simple Minds' and now global entrepreneur.
For Charlotte Robsinson, Meeting Tre was a dream come true. "I've always been a fan of the Apprentice" she told us. "Tre asked about our school business and how things were going, he was really nice." Charlotte and her team have set up their own mini business, 'Here and Now Pictures', which specialise in landscape shots of the North-East and have sold over 200 prints.
"We were showcasing our mini enterprise and acting as ambassadors for the whole of Northumberland." Charlotte said. Manager of the Wansbeck Education Enterprise Network, Sarah Legge was there to see the Girls in action. "They were a real credit to the school and to the Bedlington Community. They spoke clearly and enthusiastically about their business, they even managed to sell a few more prints."
School principal, Kieran McGrane told us how important enterprise is at Bedlington High School. "We're not just developing young entrepreneurs, were giving our young people the skills they need to tackle any job in today's changing work place. Flexibility and determination are key and Charlotte and her team have shown they've certainly got that by making their business a success".
