Over 300 students from years 7,8 and 9 have taken part in an enterprise challenge day. The day, organised by Benet Enterprises, gave students an opportunity to visit local companies and businesses in the Wansbeck area.
The students started their day with a tour of local businesses, such as ray tek, a local company that started with only three staff and is now a leading light in the security camera industry. Students had the chance to ask local entrepreneurs what it takes to set up and run their own business. Over 20 local businesses worked with students including Ray Tek, Zodiac, Tesco and the Half Moon.
Students then travelled to St Benet Biscop Enterprise College for an afternoon of enterprise activities. They had a formal, two course lunch with the entrepreneurs who they met in the morning, followed by a series of performances and workshops, led by the staff and students of St Benet Biscop.
Head teachers from both schools, Nick Bowen and Kieran McGrane praised the work of the students. Nick told us, "It's nice to see students from BCHS working with the staff from my school; this kind of collaboration strengthens our partnership".
Kieran McGrane, head of BCHS commented on the work put in by the staff from St Benet Biscop, "A lot of work has gone into organising this event and we are very grateful to Nick and has team for all of their hard work".
